A separate, stand-alone service building will be constructed next to the freezer. The service building will include office space for the HTA, Baffin Fisheries, and rental opportunities, and will include a small service bay for the repair and maintenance of snowmobiles and ATVs. The HTA will identify a business partner to operate a small engine/vehicle repair shop in this space. The snowmobile repair business will support fishermen who go out on the ice to harvest turbot.
The project is intended to create rental income, the opportunity for three full-time positions, and will support the creation of dozens of part-time, seasonal inshore fishery opportunities.
Baffin Fisheries will act as project manager for the construction phase, and business start-up phase. The HTA will manage the ongoing operation of the buildings, with support from Baffin Fisheries.
