Ship Stewards
Baffin Fisheries, the largest fishing enterprise in Northern Canada, has an immediate opening for two (2) entry level Ship Stewards for its New factory-freezer multi-species trawler Inuksuk II. The individual is expected to undertake several tasks for ensuring the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of crew through a range of hospitality and housekeeping services. Detail to safety, sustainability and performance are highly valued and highly rewarded.
- Applicants must have valid:
- Transport Canada STCW MEDs
- Transport Canada Marine Medical
- Passport
- Commitment to HSE
- A high school diploma and training in hospitality, tourism, cooking, or a related field is highly beneficial.
- Key Responsibilities, Tasks & Duties:
- The primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the preparation, presentation, and service of meals. This includes ensuring all tables and condiments are available for crew and cleaning up dining areas.
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory related to food supplies, cabin amenities, and cleaning products. Regularly checking stock and coordinating with vendors to ensure adequate supplies are on board for each trip.
- Providing courteous and professional service to all crew, attending to their requests and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
- Participating in safety drills and training sessions; ensuring familiarity with the vessel’s emergency procedures.
- Performing daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned areas.
- Assisting in loading and unloading of ship supplies.
- Ensuring compliance with Baffin Fisheries hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Reporting any issues or malfunctions in cabins or public areas to the relevant department.
