Job Overview

The Crewing manager will manage and maintain all aspects of seagoing personnel scheduling and administration, while ensuring vessels meet all manning and crew certification requirements under Transport Canada.      
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Monitor available crew and create crew rotation lists, for all levels of crew (Officers, Deckhands and Factory Workers)
  • Develop and manage a recruitment program to increase the percentage of Inuit crew onboard our vessels.
  • Communicate, analyze and identify new recruits for all positions onboard our vessels and recommend candidates to Fleet Operations
  • For each Trip for all vessels: review and ensure that all crewmembers boarding our vessels, hold the correct and valid certification as required by Transport Canada Regulations, as well as valid Passports.
  • Correspond with and obtain from crew, copies of their relevant valid certification. (Transport Canada Tickets, Transport Canada Training Certification, Marine Medicals, Passports)
  • Communicate with COO and NL Crewing Coordinator for vessel schedules and crewing requirements.
  • Communicate with Captains regarding crew Lists and issues associated with same.
  • Coordination of crew travel, including charter planes for Greenland landing.
  • Ensure all company required documentation is completed, (New Employee and Group Insurance Forms) and that we have copies of required Tickets and Certification for new crew.
  • Collect information and maintain a database for crew sea time for each vessel.
  • Complete Sea Time Documentation Letter for crew who request same.
  • Maintain On-Board crew lists for both current and past trips for all vessels.
  • Inform and assist crew when applying for certification for Transport Canada tickets. Certificate of Proficiency and/or Certificate of Competency. (i.e. Bridge Watch Rating)
  • Address issues and solve problems related to employee concerns, travel interruptions, crew disciplinary matters and any related complications as they arise.
  • Work with senior management to develop, maintain and manage officer employment contracts.
  • Advise management of unsuitable seagoing personal and keeping full records of incidents and occurrences.
  • Implement staffing decisions made by senior management.
  • Anticipate future Company's needs for recruitment.
